Who doesn’t remember those Calgon commercials in which the mom exclaims, “Calgon…Take Me Away!”. Suddenly, she’s magically in a bathtub being transported to a far away land in a giant bubble. If you don’t remember, it’s on You Tube

If only life was that easy. When was the last time your kids had a pillow fight with feathers flying everywhere? And if they did, was that really enough to earn you your Calgon status? Hmmm….not from any of the moms I know.
My best friend earned her Calgon status not too long ago when one of her girls was potty training. (You see where this is going, don’t you?) Her little one was playing in the playroom nicely – or so she thought. At the point where my girlfriend thought, “Things are going too well,” her ”Mommy Intuition” kicked in. Moms all over the world are wired with alarm signals that go off in their minds when trouble is on the horizon.
Let’s just say that not too long after she walked into the playroom, she called me devastated that her little one had smeared the contents of the diaper on the first Build a Bear that I had bought for her. “Pretty gross, but just throw it out and we’ll replace it.” was my reaction. However, The two-year old didn’t stop there. Picture a playroom with toys spread all over, and a tiny tot with a wild idea to take off her diaper. Now I don’t think anyone would argue that my girlfriend truly earned her Calgon status that afternoon.
Well, it’s Monday and we both know that the reality is, even if you sneak upstairs with the hope of relaxing in the tub and floating away in a giant bubble, your bubble will be instantly poppped by the little feet you hear running down the hall, or your husband yelling, “Honey, have you seen my cell phone?” Your best escape is to make yourself an apple toddy, perfect for a crisp, fall evening. And don’t forget to say in your sexiest voice, “Toddy…take me Away!”

- 2 oz whiskey or apple brandy

Well I guess this reviels my identity, however I have earned this Toddy Treat! I love that my best friend can share in the OMG moments with me. There have been many, yet this one was the biggest one so far. I was not quite sure how to tackle the mess. I did with mental help, thank God! The worst part about the whole thing was throwing away the toys that had been blessed by her curiosity. Which by the way ended up lasting a few weeks. Anyone who knows me knows I save everything and all things hold great value. Let’s just say we took pictures for the first Build A Bear experience and that is all that is left. We all have crazy stories so cheers to all the mom’s out there! I’ll take the Toddy and the Bath!!!! Keri
I only wish 5-6 years ago I had heard about the playroom poo incident- because I had one that did the same thing and not just once! I grew thru this time knowing I was the only one to have ever gone thru this! Calgon did not help and a fifth of whiskey wouldn’t have helped me then either- hahaha but knowing I wasn’t alone….Priceless…….
