“Dreams are illustrations…from the book your soul is writing about you.” – Marsha Norman
I’m sadly mourning the loss of Spring Break today. We had an amazing week and it all started with this bizarre dream I had. Here’s what I remember… I’m on a school bus, sitting next to someone in my office. The bus driver is driving on the freeway, but he is facing backwards in the driver’s seat. In the dream, I remember thinking this is strange, but I notice that the man is in complete control. He’s looking at a mirror, at the back of the bus which shows him what’s ahead. Go ahead… Analyze that! Here is what I took it to mean, I spend so much time focused on what’s ahead (currently what that little pink slip stands for). The man on the bus is in control, but not entirely focused on the future or the past. He’s looking ahead through that little mirror, but it’s only one little bit of what’s in his view. Isn’t that a much better way to live life? I’m open to other interpretations, and yes, I know I’m already a bit crazy!
I thought that was very cool and after that, I vowed to not spend my break thinking about what the future holds and just enjoy the time off. I had the best time watching in the background, while my son and his buddies built a fort hidden amongst the shrubs near my house. They spent the week creating a store in my front yard (which sadly didn’t have any profits – that’s what happens when you live at the end of a long cul de sac). They played air hockey in the garage, baseball in the street, and savored every minute of their time off. If you forget what life is all about, spend some time watching the kids. So as our stress levels kick into high gear this week, let’s stay in the driver’s seat, but focus on now, as opposed to only what’s on the horizon. Cheers to a great week!
I made this champagne cocktail for Easter. It’s a variation of a Bellini. If you’re entertaining friends that don’t drink much, go with the Mimosa. If your guests love Happy Hour, they should be able to handle this one.
