I’m a little obsessed lately with making easy homeade truffles. Valentine’s is definitely prime time truffle season. You can head to Godiva to buy those amazing heart truffles from my post yesterday, but be warned the box costs $94. So this Valentine’s Day, why not make your own truffles for the ones you love. Check out these recipes and see what entices you.
Peanut Butter Truffles – I made these at Christmas and they were a hit. They taste like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in truffle form. I immediately had to package them up to save myself from eating the whole batch.
Cheesecake Pops – The best recipe I’ve seen comes from the fabulous cookbook Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey: Desserts for the Serious Sweet Tooth . Sandra Lee has made a semi-homeade version of cheesecake pops that calls for a grocery store bought cheesecake. I’ve tried this and it did not work well. Go with the homeade version. Visit Hostess with the Mostess for the recipe.
Brownie Pops – There are several companies out there that sell these pops as party favors. Brownie Pops is one of the companies and they do make them look amazing. I’ve made my own simple version by baking a pan of brownies. When cooled, I use a small cookie scoop to shape the brownies into balls on a baking sheet and refrigerate. Then, I dip them the same way as the cheesecake pops above.
I couldn’t share this post without including the Queen of Pops, Bakerella. This woman is amazing and is working on a whole cookbook of her awesome pops. She has created Oreo truffles, Nutter Butter Truffles, and perfect for Valentine’s Day her Red Velvet Truffles . You’ve got to try them!

I love making cake bites and cake pops, Angie Dudley (Bakerella)is our baking godmother. She has opened a world of creative art for many of us who love to bake, but never knew that baking could be taken to the next level.
