Flower Centerpieces for Summer! The Three C’s… Colorful, Creative & Cost Friendly

“When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other.” – Chinese Proverb

Summer is all about letting loose. It’s about having fun, catching up with friends, and letting go of your normal routine. With a little creativity, our summer centerpieces can also reflect this fresh feel. Even though, come August, I may be close to having only two pennies left (teachers aren’t paid in the summer!), I don’t think I can give up fresh flowers. I love my house, but fresh flowers (and the boy and the Naughty One) are what give it life and make it a happy place. No, I’m not parting with my flowers (thank goodness for Costco), but I am looking for new ways to display them that won’t cost any extra. This clever and simple idea above from Rachel Ray is a great example of using something that you already have, but putting it to use in a different way. Here’s a few more to get those creative juices flowing…

The Empty Vase is a fabulous florist in Los Angeles with some great ideas. Isn’t this clever how the pink flowers start at the bottom and lead all of the way up to the bouquet?

Nothing says summer better than sunflowers in bright beach pails. Real Simple shares this colorful idea with their readers. It truly is a simple way to brighten up your table.

I’m usually not a carnation lover, but these are really fun for a 4th of July table. They are festive and remind me of fireworks bursting with color into the night sky. Country Living shows you how to make these arrangements and also has a great slideshow with over 20 centerpiece ideas.

This creative San Diego florist uses containers of all sizes to make unique designs. These roses are beautiful bunched together with the stems removed and a ti leaf wrapped around them.

I love bringing the beach into my house, and I’m not referring to the sand trail on my floor and the specks of sand all over the shower after our long beach days.

Check out this creative way to bring that warm, beach feel inside. Step by step directions can be found on the site.

One of the best places to seek out unique flower inspiration is at top-rated florists and award-winning event planners that specialize in weddings. I love this idea of using a “fish bowl” type container and floating flowers in the bottom.

Hope you’re inspired! I know I am!!
