It was my intent to have this post finished today, but I’ll have to share this fabulous recipe later this week. Sadly, a strike has been called and will begin tomorrow for my school district. When I started my career, this was the place that everyone hoped to get into. It had a reputation of attracting the best teachers in the county. Over the past few years, a group of seven individuals who were elected by the people have sought to destroy what has been built up for so many years. They are manipulative and have an agenda so much bigger than the issue being argued. The sad part is that the machine behind them has calculated every move and has done things in a way that will turn many parents against teachers. They do not care about the kids. I am angry. I am sad. I am in a very difficult position. I am a teacher, who is out of the classroom, working in a job that provides support to my fellow teachers and parents. I was not raised to be bullied. I was raised to stand up for what is right. Pray that this is resolved and that this group of seven will finally do the right thing. The long-lasting impact on teachers and our students will be devastating. It all makes me want to scream!
