In the middle of the boy’s week-long birthday celebration, one of my good friends also celebrated a birthday. I consider myself to be a good gift giver. It’s not about how much you spend, but finding the right thing for the right person. For me, techie people are the hardest to buy for. First off, anything I would want to buy is way out of my price range. And an extra battery pack or adapter just doesn’t seem very personal. Techie people (yes I’m making a generalization) also seem a bit impulsive. You’ve seen the line wrapped around the entire mall when Apple releases something new, haven’t you? So even if I could afford some ridiculously priced gadget, it’s probably something the person stood in a long line for six hours to buy.
I’m okay with gift cards, but prefer something more personal. During the holidays, the boy and I made large cookie apps for his teacher and found Apple App gift cards. This time around, I decided to make them as mini cookies. The person gets a little less cookie volume, but these cookies are way cuter in mini form. Wilton makes small treat boxes that are perfect for these. The window box is a must for this. Wrap it up with a ribbon, slip the gift card in the birthday envelope, and you’ve got the perfect tech-lovin’ gift.
To my friend who has opened the world of apps to me… hAPPy Birthday! How in the world did I ever live without Pulse, Dragon, and Slydial? Bet ya didn’t know there was a Trivial Pursuit app though, did you? I am practicing, you’ve been warned!

What a great idea! I love all of your tips, from the corresponding gift card/cookies, to the window gift box, to mini cookies! Great work on this cookie app project!
I totally agree with your feelings about buying for *technies* and your *downsized* app cookies are the perfect gift idea, with or without the app gift card. The cookie decorations are great and I love how you packaged them and wrote up this post.

Awesome idea. I agree with you, that it is quite hard to decide what gift to buy for techie people. But in my case I think myself a bit fortunate because even though my wife is techie, but her weakness is jewelry. So I always gift her jewelry, this Valentine’s day I have gifted her Pandora’s ring.
