My Much Needed Silent Night Martini

This past Friday at 4PM, exhausted and frazzled, my only wish was for a “Silent Night”. Two hours earlier, the Naughty Dachshund and I went to pick up the carpool. We were both giddy knowing that when the school bell rang, it would officially mark the beginning of winter break.

Anyway, you might remember a couple of months ago I had an “I’m losing my mind” moment when my Cinnamon Toast pie, that was last seen in the refrigerator went missing. Well, when the carpoolers headed my way, I realized I was about to have another one of those mom moments. Unfortunately, this time it wasn’t a pie… It was my entire set of keys which had mysteriously fallen out of my pocket somewhere in the tall grass of a huge field.

Have you heard the song “You Find Out Who Your Friends Are” by Tracey Lawrence? I love the lyrics! During all of the ups and downs and even the ridiculous times in my life, such as this one, I’m reminded how blessed I am to have such an amazing circle of friends. When I realized the keys were missing, I called one of my closest girlfriends (who actually has the Naughty One’s brother, Odie). She and her husband stopped everything, loaded up their three kids and the dog, drove to my house to get my spare car keys, and proceeded to the school to join in on my scavenger hunt. The recovery team now consisted of three adults, a bunch of wild kids, and two naughty pups. Thankfully, an hour and a half after the keys went missing, my girlfriend found them in the middle of the field and the search was officially called off.

The holidays seem to make us even crazier than normal, don’t they? Well, when craziness hits, call a friend who will drop everything, send everyone else away, and enjoy a much needed Silent Night!

When I read that- I held my breath truly hoping they were in your pocket and not surely lost in the field! OMG! You have some awesome friends- I am afraid after days like that I need a quite a bit more than the silent night martini! Umm and Yumm, just the blue curacao and creme de cocao – sounds soooo good!
Now my wonderings have been answered- “this girl loves the ‘Tini’s- why?” Now I know, Its the CARPOOLING! That would drive me to drinking tini’s every night!LOL!

My son knows me so well. When I first told him I lost the keys he said, “Mom, are they in your pocket?” No! “Did they fall into your pant leg?” No! “Mom, are they in your hands?” This kid has also been recruited to search for the sunglasses that have ended up being on top of my head more than once.
