It’s only fitting to follow a week of cupcakes with a low calorie cocktail, right? And this is a good one for warm summer nights. Mom, you’ll need to skip this one since it has Midori. I still think your issue with Midori liqueur has more to do with Midori, the crying foreign exchange student, than the taste of the alcohol, but I guess you and I can discuss this another time.
By the way, I’m not done with summer cupcakes. I was planning on posting Friday, but life threw me for another unexpected loop. Note to life…I’m ready to get off the roller coaster. Put me back on one of those kiddie rides, please!
Seriously, how dare something interfere with my fanfare of cupcakes! The good news is that I didn’t let the drama keep me from making Friday’s cupcake. I’ll post the recipe tomorrow. This cupcake recipe was a science experiment gone good!!
I think any parent who has kids old enough to talk has had the conversation that goes something like this:
Child (loud, shrieky voice) ………………. “That’s not fair!”
Parent (calm, assertive tone) ………………….. “Life’s not fair.”
On Friday, I found myself in the child role saying, “That’s not fair!” (with a lot of subsequent whining). I pride myself on being a “martini half-full” girl, so the “life’s not fair” attitude doesn’t happen very often. In spite of the injustices of life, I have always tried to rise above and focus on the bright side. So, I did the only thing I could think to snap me out of it - hopped in the car and drove to my best girlfriend’s for a slumber party with cocktail therapy, dessert therapy and a lot of laughs. No matter how hard life gets, or how old I get, that seems to always do the trick!
Cheers to the people in our lives who take care of us in those “Life’s not fair!” moments.
