It seems that life is considering handing me a lemon, but will get back to me to let me know for sure no later than June. Apparently, life has forgotten how much I hate being in limbo! My mom will tell you, I came out of the womb with anxiety. I’ve learned how to manage it, but I’m still a creature of habit. I do not like the process of change. Here’s the lemon…Last week my boss told me that my position may be cut next fall.
The sad part is that I love my job. How many people can say that? I have been blessed to work with such a great team of people and have had the flexibility to work at home for part of the week, for the past seven years.
Okay, I’ve come up with a good coping strategy. I’ve decided that every time I feel myself getting worked up, I have to list 5 things to be happy about in that moment.
5 things to be happy about right now:
1. No matter what happens, I am still guaranteed to have a job in a field I love. How fortunate is that?
2. I’ve been blessed with an amazing family and circle of friends.
3. 80 degree weather at the beginning of March – It’s hard not to be happy!
4. Danny on American Idol – I love that man!
5. Kendall Jackson on sale for a record low… $8.08 a bottle! – Yahoo! I’m exstatic!
Okay, I feel much better now! Cheers to a great week! Sip on some electric lemonade this afternoon and remind yourself of the many blessings in your life!
1 1/2 oz. vodka
1 oz. blue curacao
7up
Pour ingredients into a glass filled with ice. Top off with cold 7up. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

OMG!!!!! I love your list of happy things, but seriously! Nothing like a whirlwind. On a lighter note, I love this drink!!!! There is a favorite appetizer place that I frequently visited in my college years that has great electric lemonades!! I have never known how to make them and thanks to Grin and Bake It and the Monday cocktail I am so educated!!!! See the learning never stops! Traci you need to make these for old times! Thanks Katie
