White Chocolate Pumpkin Martini Something to be Thankful for!

This weekend, after the rain, my neighborhood was out in full force putting up Christmas lights. Part of me is totally okay with that. I like to enjoy my decorations as long as possible too, and it’s fun living in a neighborhood where everyone goes crazy with lights and decorations.

However, the other part of me wants to stand outside and yell, “Slow down!” (which by the way, I refrained from doing). Maybe it’s because I’ve spent the last eight weeks going non-stop, and now have a week off, I just want to savor it.  Before we start running around like mad, buying all of the people in our lives things they probably don’t even need, I just want to enjoy the holiday.

Like Thanksgiving, this white chocolate pumpkin martini is something else you’ll want to savor. I’ve never been a fan of pumpkin pie, but love the flavor. (Someone tell me that’s not completely crazy.) I discovered yesterday that adding pumpkin to one of my favorite liqueurs, White Chocolate Godiva, creates a sweet, creamy dessert cocktail. This is a martini to be thankful for.

Before I get caught up in holiday festivities (Dad, let me know when you’re available to put up my tree), I wanted to share a few things I’m thankful for…

  1. My family ~ my dad and mom, my big sis, and my boy. God could not have picked a better family for me to be born into. I love you all and can’t imagine my life without you.
  2. My BFFs who I consider my sisters, Keri, Jen & Deb, you are the three women  in my life who I can laugh with,  cry with, toast with, and be completely myself with. I could not get through the journey of motherhood without you.
  3. The Naughty One ~ In addition to your naughtiness, you have filled our house with life and love. You have a precious soul (Just try to resolve not eating the $20 panties in the New Year; I’m kind of on a budget.).
  4. Friends & neighbors, new friends who I’ve met this year (Where have you been my whole life?), and my food bloggin’ friends and readers who follow my little blog, I’m glad you’re part of my life!
  5. I am also thankful for cocktails, dessert, and Kendall Jackson (but you already knew that, right?).

The greatest thing about a friendship that has lasted 26 years is that it is going anywhere. There is nothing more important than having those close people in life that you can be yourself with. You have always been there for me and I have been there for you. Dance in the rain my sweet friend!

Just popped on here via a link I found. Just had to tell you that picture of that sweet faced little boy and that dog is a precious photo! You should get it enlarged and put in a frame asap. Time flies!

Hi Susan! I’m so glad you like my little blog, and that you love to bake as much as I do. I get to oversee the GATE department at the district during the day, but baking is my passion. I completely forgot to post the martini recipe. I just updated it so you can print it easily now. Have a great weekend! You’ll have to let me know if you have any great Christmas cookie recipes.
